This shallow, 13-acre lake is a remnant of a resort and lake named after Abner Sprague. He and his wife Alberta were one of the original settlers in the Estes Park area. Sprague began building a homestead in Moraine Park in 1874. His ranch would eventually become a resort that was used for hunting, fishing, dude ranching, and even golfing. The Spragues introduced their guests to the pleasures of high mountain waters, meadows and trails... me... I like the sunrises here the best.
